LGMUN 2019

November 23rd, 2019 @ Collingwood School

If not us, WHO?

If not now, WHEN?

Dear delegates, faculties, and parents,

On behalf of the secretariat team, I would like to formally welcome everyone to the second iteration of Lions Gate Model United Nations (LGMUN). It is my absolute honour to serve as the Secretary-General for this year’s conference and to create an unforgettable experience of true diplomatic debate for delegates both old and new.

LGMUN is a student-led NGO that holds a single-day Model UN conference at Collingwood School in West Vancouver annually. The conference provides a unique experience, spending a fruitful day discussing and debating over current economic, political and humanitarian issues. During the conference, students take on the role of a United Nations delegate representing their country by adopting their unique countries’ foreign and domestic policies. Students must utilize their diplomatic, public speaking and debating skills in an intensive and competitive circumstance during their committee sessions while staying true to their countries’ policies and concern.

We aim to provide a novel opportunity for delegates to broaden and expand their knowledge regarding the world in this current day and age. The delegate will work together to come up with inclusive and extensive resolutions that satisfy the majority of the countries as well as the problem at hand. The animated and thought-provoking discussions offered by LGMUN do not just augment delegates’ individual growth, but more importantly, raises their awareness of pressing issues on a global scale, and planting the seeds of awareness that will enable them to become the global citizens of in the future. The entire team and I are dedicated to ensuring the best experience for the delegates and we are thrilled to meet everyone at the conference.
